Customs & Duties

Import charges on UK deliveries from Pakistan are paid by you, the customer — not included in your GetFromPakistan quote. Here is exactly what to expect and where our responsibility ends.

Charges you may pay on arrival

These fees are assessed by UK customs and your courier — not by GetFromPakistan. They are separate from your order quote.

Customs duty

A tariff charged by UK Border Force on goods imported from outside the UK. The rate depends on the product type, its declared value, and applicable trade rules. Not all items attract duty — many personal effects and low-value parcels may be exempt or charged at reduced rates.

Import VAT

Value Added Tax applied to the total value of your goods plus shipping costs, and in some cases customs duty. For most goods entering the UK, the standard rate is 20%. VAT is collected by HMRC via the courier or customs clearance process.

Clearance fees

Administrative charges levied by the courier or their customs broker for processing your parcel through UK customs. These cover document preparation, customs entry submission, and release of your shipment for final delivery.

Brokerage & handling fees

Additional fees charged by DHL, FedEx, or Aramex (or their appointed agents) for acting as your customs broker — receiving, inspecting, and forwarding your parcel after customs processing. These vary by carrier and shipment value.

Clear handover point

Our responsibility ends at dispatch

Once your parcel is handed to DHL, FedEx, or Aramex and a tracking number is issued, transit, customs assessment, and import charges become matters between you, the courier, and UK Border Force.

Overview

GetFromPakistan.com sources and ships goods from Pakistan to the United Kingdom on your behalf. When your parcel crosses an international border, UK customs authorities may assess import charges on arrival. These charges are separate from the quote you pay us for sourcing, service fees, and international shipping.

This page explains what fees may apply, who is responsible for paying them, and where our service responsibility ends.

Customer-Paid Import Fees

The following charges are paid by you, the customer, not included in your GetFromPakistan quote unless explicitly stated otherwise:

  • Customs duty — tariffs assessed by UK Border Force based on product classification and declared value
  • Import VAT — typically 20% on the value of goods plus shipping (and duty, where applicable)
  • Clearance fees — courier or broker charges for processing your parcel through customs
  • Brokerage & handling fees — carrier administrative fees for customs brokerage and release

The courier will typically contact you directly — by email, SMS, or phone — with the amount due and payment instructions before releasing your parcel for final delivery. You must pay these charges to receive your order. Failure to pay may result in the parcel being held, returned, or destroyed in accordance with carrier and customs policies.

Where Our Responsibility Ends

GetFromPakistan's responsibility for your order ends once your parcel has been handed to our international courier partner (DHL, FedEx, or Aramex) and a tracking number has been issued. From that point:

  • Transit times, routing, and delivery are governed by the courier's terms and conditions.
  • Customs assessment, duty calculation, and import VAT are determined by UK Border Force and HMRC — not by GetFromPakistan.
  • Clearance, brokerage, and handling fees are charged and collected by the courier or their appointed agent.
  • Any disputes regarding import charges should be directed to the courier or, where appropriate, HMRC.

We accurately declare the contents and value of your shipment on customs documentation as required by law. We cannot control how UK customs classifies your goods or what charges are ultimately applied.

Updates Until Dispatch

While your order is being processed — from quote acceptance through sourcing, QA, and packing — we keep you updated at every milestone. You will receive notifications when:

  • Payment is confirmed and sourcing begins
  • Your item is purchased or collected from the sender
  • Your parcel arrives at our Pakistan operations centre (head office)
  • QA inspection is complete (including any photos for approval)
  • Your parcel is packed and ready for international dispatch
  • Your tracking number is issued and the parcel is handed to the courier

Updates are sent via WhatsApp, email, or your preferred channel — as described on our process page. Once dispatched, tracking and delivery updates come directly from your courier's tracking system.

If you need to update your UK delivery address or contact details, please notify us before dispatch. Changes after the parcel has been handed to the courier may not be possible or may incur additional fees.

Declared Value & Documentation

All international shipments require accurate customs declarations. We declare the actual purchase price or declared value of your goods, along with a description of contents, on the commercial invoice and customs forms submitted to UK Border Force.

  • Under-declaring value to reduce customs charges is illegal and may result in seizure, penalties, or prosecution.
  • We will never falsify customs documentation at your request.
  • The declared value on customs forms may differ from your service quote if it includes separate sourcing fees — we declare the goods value as required by customs regulations.

Low-Value & Gift Exemptions

UK customs rules include thresholds below which certain charges may not apply. These thresholds change periodically — current HMRC guidance should be consulted for the latest figures. As a general guide:

  • Parcels below certain value thresholds may be exempt from customs duty.
  • Gifts sent from abroad to an individual may qualify for relief subject to conditions and value limits.
  • Exemptions do not automatically apply to all shipments — product type, quantity, and declared purpose all affect eligibility.

We cannot guarantee that your shipment will be exempt from charges. Even low-value parcels may incur clearance or handling fees from the courier regardless of duty or VAT status.
